Neon Nights

An accurate portrayal of how I feel about Laffing Sal ^^

Dress: SheIn | Choker: Are You Am I | Heels: Steve Madden

Alright y'all, this is officially the coolest photoshoot I've done in a while. I spent this past week back home in Santa Cruz and one of my favorite things to do while I'm here is to get shoots for this blog done around town. Seeing as most of my looks are shot in LA, it's nice to get a bit of my hometown flare in every now and then. :) SC is a naturally beautiful area, and it really isn't hard scoping out picturesque locations for these shoots. And lucky for me, I've also got access to a pretty wonderful photographer here! I had the pleasure of working with my good friend Melissa for these shots and as you can see, this girl really knows her stuff. Melissa is an amazing artist and seriously one of the most talented people I know, so I could’t have been any more excited to get these shoots done with her. We first started off the shoot downtown, and had originally wrapped up all the shots for this dress there. It was Melissa's idea, however, to get some more nighttime shots in the arcade at the Boardwalk and since that's something I've never really featured on here before, I was definitely all for it. I also haven’t been to the Boardwalk in forever, so it was a nice trip down memory lane going back. We started off in the arcade and moved our way towards the rides, before eventually being kicked out because "professional photography" is apparently banned at the Boardwalk...I know, weird. But at least we were able to get the shots that we had already taken! I couldn’t be any more pleased with how they turned out, and am overall really glad that we ended up doing this little extension to the shoot. I love the artsy, neon vibes that come with each shot and the bokeh is absolute perfection. If you're in the Santa Cruz area and are looking to get a photographer for an event, or simply just want some fabulous photos taken of you, have Melissa do it for you! I'll be putting up another photoshoot we did in just a few days, but in the meanwhile make sure to check out her Instagram for more examples of her amazing work.

Now, about this dress - it's seriously the full package. It's both off the shoulder AND lace up, which I've made evident are two styles that I'm madly obsessed with. The ribbed fabric on it is pretty good quality as well. This piece is once again from SheIn, and I'm still amazed that a dress so cute can also be so affordable. If you like what you see, you can get the same piece for yourself here.

As mentioned earlier, this shoot is only one of the two that Melissa and I got done this past weekend. Can't wait to show you guys the amazing shots of the next one, as well as the gorgeous dress that's featured in it.

Dreaming of Blush

Top: Cami NYC (Sold out on original site, available at Revolve & similar here) | Choker: Ventrone Chronicles | Skirt: American Apparel | Shoes: Steve Madden | Bag: Coach

The blush looks are finally starting to roll out! I've been accumulating a rather impressive collection of blush apparel over the past month but somehow haven't actually featured any of them on here until this one. Fear not though, the rest are on their way. I'm absolutely living for this blush silk cami from Cami NYC. I found out about this company through random Instagram perusing and am so in love with the amazing quality of their garments. This silk feels like liquid, and the color is the perfect shade of blush. There are a lot of different ways in which I like to style this top so definitely expect to see it featured on here again. I tried a tucked-in look for this outfit, but I think that it may actually be better off untucked and with some skinny jeans.

The matching blush velvet choker is from my recently aforementioned fav, Ventrone Chronicles. This choker ties in the back rather than clasping, which really allows you to customize just how fitted you want the piece to be. The blush color is once again gorgeous, and I can easily see myself wearing this with countless other looks.  I'll have to get some more close-ups next time because I don't think these shots do the choker enough justice. It's velvety blush perfection, and it definitely deserves some proper recognition!

My Favorite Perfumes

I haven't done a beauty post in a while, so I thought it would be fun to share with you guys a list of my current favorite perfumes! I have always considered perfume to be an invisible secret weapon - a component of your look that is just as vital as the clothing and accessories you wear each day. I always wear perfume every time I go out, and I absolutely love the transformative effects that come with each spritz. Perfumes carry different aesthetics and identities, and it's exciting to be able to switch from one to another via one simple spray. Most of these fragrances are floral based, as that is my favorite kind of scent and is also one that I find to be very versatile. It can work for both day and night looks, and it's also easy on the senses. While some of these may seem similar to one another, they've all got their own unique flares that make them stand out in their own way. They all hold their own special spot in my rather modest perfume collection, and they all make getting fabulous each day that much easier!

It's common knowledge by now that everything Chloé produces is, like, absolutely flawless, so naturally their fragrances are no exception. Love Story is an ultra chic fragrance that should be present in every fashionista's perfume collection. I'm not exactly a fragrance connoisseur so forgive my relatively amateur descriptions, but I would say this scent is very sophisticated, modern, and feminine. It is, to it simply, the perfect representation of the Chloé girl. I'm so glad I got the larger size bottle of this because I can definitely see myself wearing it for a long time!

This is a super fresh, flirty and somewhat fruity scent that I have absolutely loved for years now. Both the perfume and the packaging are feminine and modern, and Dior itself has always been one of my favorite fashion houses. The name of this fragrance is rather fitting, as I really was addicted to it the moment I got it! I desperately need to get a refill on it though, since the last one I got was almost 3 years ago. Also, does anybody else remember the absolutely flawless campaign with Daphne Groeneveld?

Have you ever sprayed a perfume sample on yourself and immediately, without any hesitation whatsoever, knew that you just had to have it? Yeah, that's exactly what happened with this one right here. It was literally love at first spray. This scent is so intoxicating, so pretty, and so romantic. And roses are my favorite flower, so it was already a winner to begin with. Out of all the fragrances listed here, this is probably the one I wear the most at the moment.

I featured this fragrance in the first beauty post I made on here, and I still stand by it half a year later. It's potent, sexy and something that I love to rock when I want to incorporate a bit more glamor into my look. Also, the bottle itself is a stunning piece of blush perfection that totally satisfies interior design goals.

Ahh, this fragrance takes me back. Perfumes always remind me of certain moments in my life where I wore them the most, and this scent takes me back to the start of my senior year in high school where I was obsessed with Kate Moss's grunge phase in the '90s (still am, tbh) and blasted My Bloody Valentine in my car at all times. The campaign for this fragrance at the time was absolute perfection. It featured some of my favorite models, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Lara Stone, and I find it to be the best modern reinterpretation of '90s Calvin Klein. This perfume is crisp, clean and cool. It's the Calvin Klein essence in perfume form, and it's no surprise that it has remained a classic for literally decades now. Leather jacket not included, but highly recommended.

It's no surprise that a fashion house as classic as Dior produces perfumes that are equally as iconic. I definitely consider this fragrance to be one of them, right up there with J'adore. This is a sweet and floral scent that makes we want to put on a Brigitte Bardot record and run around Paris in a sundress. I first got this fragrance when I was 16 and I believe the perfume today no longer has the "Chérie" part of its name, so pardon my super dated bottle! Just like with Addict, I clearly need to get myself a restock. While I actually haven't worn Miss Dior in a while, I still definitely consider it to be one of my all-time favorite perfumes. If you're looking for something classy, elegant and an overall fabulous representation of the Dior lady, then this is the fragrance for you.

Summer Stripes

Dress: Lulus | Heels: Steve Madden

Shoutout to restock updates~ I don't even remember when I first originally saw this dress on Lulus (which was out of stock at the time), but I apparently signed myself up for a restock notification because I ended up receiving one out of nowhere last month. Although somewhat unexpected, I'm glad I got it since I actually ended up buying it shortly afterwords! I find restock updates and waitlists to be incredibly convenient tools, and I would recommend taking the time to always sign yourself up for one when something you like is out of stock. I know the wait can be frustrating at times, but it will definitely end up being worth it if your item ends up gettoing restocked. I've had a good amount of luck with it for Reformation pieces (I will cherish my Avalon bodysuit forever, which I scored through their waitlist), and now with this lovely dress too!

I hardly ever wear maxi dresses that don't have a slit in it, so naturally this one was already a winner. I'm obsessed with both the slit featured in this piece as well as the ultra cute cut-out in the back. I would say this dress is perfect for brunch or a nice summer party, but to be honest, I always feel funny whenever I recommend events that a certain garment would be appropriate for. My philosophy has always been to wear whatever you want whenever you'd like, for no reason other than you simply want to, and I feel like this dress should be no exception. I ended up wearing this piece to Gjusta the other day with my boyfriend for some breakfast, but I also wore it in San Diego a few weeks ago. I can also see myself doing the same when I go on a little visit back home to Santa Cruz in a few weeks. So, my advice? Wear it to a nice party, a coffee date, your summer class, the beach, grocery shopping, at home by yourself, whatever. Literally wear it whenever you want. You don't need a reason to be fabulous!

Wishlist

Here's another wishlist of the summer styles I've been lusting over lately. Breezy maxi dresses, bodysuits, off the shoulder and lace-up pieces have been my favorite go-to's, and I especially love the pops of pink and denim featured in some of these pieces. A few of these items are giving me a serious case of wanderlust because they would be perfect to rock on a vacation! For example, that stunner of a pink maxi dress is making me want to stroll dow the streets of Nice, France with a fabulous sunhat and some gelato in hand. Switch over to the evening and you know I would be rocking that off-the-shoulder black maxi dress like no other. *sigh* Some day!

These items are once again from SheIn, and I can't wait to show you guys the cutest dress that I got from them the other day. I'll give you a hint: it combines two of my favorite style together ;) SheIn is offering customers free shipping on all orders from 7/10 (today!) until 7/12 so don't miss out! Once you're done with this list, check out some more of their popular, blogger-approved pieces here.
