Cherry Blossom Girl

Spring is definitely in the air in Los Angeles. The sidewalks are lined with gorgeous, blossoming trees and their pink petals are scattered just about everywhere, making the city look a bit more like a fairytale than the urban metropolis it actually is. Cherry blossoms are my favorite kind of tree, and while the ones featured here aren't actually cherry blossoms, they're certainly similar in appearance and just as stunning. When we went downtown to do this shoot, we didn't realize that these beauties would be sprouting up everywhere! It was a gorgeous surprise to arrive to, so naturally we went and took about a million and one photos for this outfit.

I brought back a few of my favorite '70s trend for this look, pairing this breezy lace-up top with my favorite button-up skirt. For shoes, I scored these cute (and surprisingly comfy!) nude, chunky sandals from Target the other day and thought they would work seamlessly with the rest of this ensemble.  I always think it's funny when people ask where I got what I'm wearing and are surprised when I respond with Target - yes, they have a lot of stylish stuff there! Lastly, my rich tan Michael Kors satchel paired nicely with my skirt and was perfect for a fun day spent downtown. I personally think pairing rich tan with neutral tones, such as white or black, is an ultra chic combination. As you can probably already tell by the outfits I feature on here, I'm incredibly picky about what colors I wear and am generally drawn exclusively to neutral tones. So when I do wear color, it's mostly the rich tan shade that I'm wearing in this outfit - or some good, old denim. It creates a well balanced color combination highly reminiscent of the '70s style, that is still surprisingly in trend to this day. Considering how fast paced the fashion industry is, it's fascinating to see that this look is still just as popular as it was when it first started out. And judging by this outfit alone, it's probably evident that I'm pretty ok with this.
