Lace-up Luxe

Camel and light wash denim are some of my favorite colors to combine, so naturally I had to put together this outfit. I've been meaning to get a lace-up top in camel for a while now, so I'm stoked to finally be showing you guys my new find. It's a pretty fitting color for fall too! Both pieces combine to create that seventies feel that you know I am and always will be obsessed with. Meanwhile, my go-to Michael Kors satchel and nude ankle strap heels keep things sleek and modern - details that I always try to incorporate into whatever outfit I'm wearing.
Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! Crazy how fast October seems to have flown by....

Bohemian Sunset

Have you ever had one of those outfits where you felt like you could just wear it forever? Cause that's the vibe I'm getting with this one right here. Breezy white dress, fine gold jewelry, and a fabulous pair of lace-ups. I'm also (to no surprise) in love with the wide, white lace bell sleeves. To play up this dress, I threw in some of my favorite nude lace up heels from Public Desire. If you're aiming for a more casual look however, a wide brim hat and a comfy pair of booties will do the trick. Because this dress is such a stunner, I felt that simple, fine gold jewelry would complement it the best. I'm obsessed with this necklace from Brandy Melville, and also love that I can wear it with pretty much anything! Versatility at its finest.

On a side beauty note, this was the first time I've curled my hair in the longest time and I'm definitely pleased with the results. I would always curl my hair when it was longer, but since I've had short hair for pretty much the entirety of 2015 so far, it hasn't been all that easy. It has gotten to the point now though where it's finally curl-able (is that a word? Eh, you know what I mean), so expect to see this hairstyle featured on here more often!

Decades Past

The seventies meet the sixties in this breezy, patterned shift dress. I found this piece to have styles reminiscent of both decades, with bell sleeves, a lace-up design in the front and a shift shape/ pattern that reminds me a lot of the mod era. A pair of teardrop earrings also adds a bit of that decade's oh-so-memorable groovy flare. I went simple with the rest of my accessories, as I wanted my dress to be the main highlight. It's super lightweight and perfect for any warm day out. The weather here in LA is back to its usual sunny skies, so there won't be too much bundling up for me! If you live in colder regions and still want to rock this dress, a cozy pair of tights and ankle booties could easily work with this outfit. Top it off with a nice hat (obviously I would pick wide brim!) and you're good to go.

Feeling Like Fall

Guys, we finally had a cold day in LA! These don't come around very often, so you know I had to take advantage of it while I could. By cold, I mean temperatures in the 60's - which I realize is definitely not cold to regions that actually experience chilly weather. But seeing as the climate down here is generally sunny and almost always above 80°F, I could feel a pretty big difference. I seriously hope we get weather like we had the other day more often. Nothing puts you in the fall spirit better than bundling up in your favorite sweaters and walking around sipping your favorite warm drinks - all of which usually requires cold weather!

I would label my outfit as a "California fall" kind of look. It's pretty light and breezy, but it still has a nice leather jacket to keep yourself warm. I've featured this dress on here before in a fancier manner, but this time I decided to make it a bit cozier and season appropriate. As for accessories, I'm absolutely obsessed with my metallic double sided earrings from Mirina Collections. They're simple, but still definitely make a statement. Check out this page to see their entire earring collection, and feel free to use the code "tokyo" for 20% off.

Hope everyone has a lovely upcoming weekend!

DTLA

I don't get to go downtown very often, so when I actually do get the chance to go, it's usually very exciting! My boyfriend and I had a little "downtown day" as a post-celebration for our 4 year anniversary and we had a truly great time. It started off with an absolutely delicious brunch at Doughboy's (before we left for downtown), followed by macarons at Bottega Louie, a stroll through Little Tokyo and the Kyoto Gardens, happy hour at Far Bar, pie at the Pie Hole, arcade games at EightyTwo, and a Dodger's game to end the evening. We also managed to snag a few pictures while out and about, which are the ones you are seeing here. I'm obsessed with this lace-up crop top from Topshop, so much to the point where I literally got the same exact top again except sleeveless and in white. Because let's face it, the lace up + crop top combination is one of my ultimate weaknesses - right underneath taco trucks and all day Sex & the City marathons.

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week!

Make a Statement

Who doesn't love a good statement piece? If there's anything that makes an outfit pop, it's one of these bad boys. To be totally honest, I used to not too care too much for necklaces and typically wore most of my outfits without one. My love for these accessories is a rather new finding, but better late than never right? I would have to say my two favorite styles of necklaces are either  gold/ rose gold fine jewelry or chunky, metallic boho pieces such as the one featured here. This piece, which is called the Vanessa Vintage Coin Necklace, is from Mirina Collections, and if you use my code "tokyo" you can get 20% off your next purchase - sitewide! A fabulous necklace with a fabulous discount: what's not to love?

With a statement piece like this, it's best to keep every other pretty simple. For me, I went with my trusty Brandy crop top, button front denim skirt, black handbag and black wide brim hat. By keeping the accessories bold and the rest of the outfit simple, the outfit holds just the right amount of balance.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!
