Golden Hour

Floral print is kind of my thing. And seeing as it's almost summer, you guys can expect to see a lot more of it featured on here. Whether it be maxi dresses, rompers, sundresses, skirts, or tops, floral print is certainly here to stay. Now this Forever 21 maxi dress in particular may look a bit familiar to my sharp eyed readers! I featured it on here way back when I first started this blog, and decided to present it yet again it a slightly more bohemian manner. I know some people make a big deal about "repeating fashion" but let's be real here: most college students can't afford to wear a brand new outfit every single day. Being able to repeat looks in new and refreshing ways is a fabulous skill to have, and I for one am quite the advocate. So with that said, I reinvented this look with a tan wide brim hat (can you tell I like them?), a textured tan clutch, and my new Jessica Simpson nude, slip-on heels (These are seriously incredible. Stylish and comfortable? Yes please.) While my previous go at this outfit was a bit more on the classy and glamorous side, this updated take had more of bohemian feel that was reflective of my current aesthetic. It all comes together to create a look perfect for a warm summer day or night, wherever your travels may take you.

Style Guru Bio - College Fashionista

I'm so excited to share with you guys my new position as a Style Guru intern for the website College Fashionista! Every Tuesday, I'll be putting up posts on their site documenting the fabulous campus trends of my fellow UCLA student body, along with the occasional dosage of my own input. This week's post is a Style Guru Bio on myself that provides some details on my love for fashion, as well as a glimpse into what my personal style is like. I decided to throw in a few extra photos on here since we took quite a lot of pictures for this shoot, but you can check out the actual article through the link below. I'll be posting up direct links to my articles every Tuesday so that you guys can check them out for yourself. Hope you like what you see. :)

Ripped Denim

This is the first pair of ripped jeans I've purchased in a while, and I love how they add an edgy flare to an otherwise classic garment. They’re incredibly versatile too, seeing as you can glam them up or play them down. For this outfit in particular, I chose to keep things simple yet stylish. Brandy crop top and sunhat, my lovely Michael Kors purse, rose gold watch, and a sleek pair of nude heels to polish it all off. Bring it all together and you’ve got a look that’s minimal, edgy, and chic.

On a different note, I’m seeing Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett live at the Hollywood Bowl next Saturday! I’m seriously so excited. I’ll be going with my dear friend Melissa, and this is going to be our THIRD time seeing Lady Gaga in concert. Can you tell we kinda like her? Expect to see photos on here and on my Instagram of the fabulous affair.

Functional Fashion

When it comes to student style, there are few things greater than functional fashion. Sometimes, being a student and maintaining your fashion game doesn't harmonize all that well. For example, I'm a student at UCLA and am all too familiar with the dilemma of sacrificing style due to the exhausting nature of walking to and from class everyday. (Especially at my campus, where steep hills and endless staircases make up a great proportion of my commute). Through this experience, however, I've also been able to learn some pointers on this issue. By making your fashion functional, walking to class in comfort and style can very well be a possibility. I'm currently a member of Denizen Magazine, a fashion & lifestyle online magazine at UCLA, and have just put up an article on their website addressing functional fashion and how one can make their everyday campus wardrobe a bit more practical and a lot more stylish. Whether it be cozy ankle boots or protective sunglasses, an outfit that's functional and fabulous is a fashion girl's dream come true.

A Splash of Pink

Two words, everyone: Lilly Pulitzer! Thanks to my lovely mother, I was miraculously able to snag a few pieces from the highly coveted collection that hit Target a few weeks ago. Judging from my previous entries on here, you guys can probably tell that I'm not necessarily the most adventurous when it comes to color - basically, my mind is always pulling that "This would look better in tan, black, or white" mindset. You know, neutral-palette obsessed dilemmas. Lilly Pulitzer's collection for Target however changed that mindset for me. When I saw the bold, vibrant, and colorful prints that decorated each and every piece of the collection, I just knew I had to break the mold and try something new. And with summer just around the corner, what better time to do so than now? Resort wear is fun, spirited, breezy, and relaxing. It can make you feel as if you've been whisked away to a sunny beach in Cancun, when in reality you're sitting in a coffee shop downtown. This dress in particular is flirty, feminine, and perfect for when both the sun and myself are out for the day. I've got three more pieces from the collection so expect to see them show up on here in the coming weeks! Let the countdown to summer begin. ♡

Dusty Rose

The crop top reign continues. And this time, it's paired with some high-rise PacSun skinnies and my favorite pair of nude, ankle-strap heels. The final result is a sleek and chic take on the typically casual, care-free garment. This ultimately represents to me one of the greatest things about them: their versatility. Whether they're worn laid-back or luxe, they just always seem to work.

For this outfit, I was inspired by this look from the fabulous Candice Swanepoel. I absolutely adore the combination of pale pink and blue that she assembled together, and found it to be a great example of how I personally like to wear color. As I've mentioned before, my style is more on the minimalist side, but there are definitely certain tricks that can be throw in to glam things up a bit. Candice's incorporation of pale pink is subtle yet stylish, which is what I aimed to do with the light dusty rose of my Brandy crop top. Light wash denim and nude heels are also a perfect combination for keeping things looking effortlessly chic. Nothing too fussy and nothing too flashy, but fabulous nevertheless.

Bohemian Glam

One part boho, one part glam. If I were to describe my current style at the moment, it would be an eclectic mix of bohemian with sleek, chic, and minimal touches. That's ultimately the look I aimed to go for with this outfit, with my H&M slit maxi dress and Brandy Melville sunhat serving as the boho touches, and the BCBGeneration ankle strap heels, rose gold watch, and embellished clutch adding a bit of that chic flare I always aim for. Think of it as Coachella in the city - looking sleek and polished but also reppin' my beachside, California roots. I personally think this is a great way to still rock festival season looks without seeming as if you're dressed out of style. Buuut seeing as there's still a great deal of music festivals coming up this year, we'll be in the clear for a while

Date Night

One of my favorite parts of a date night is dressing up for it. Getting dolled up, putting on my favorite Chanel lipstick, spritzing on a nice smelling perfume (currently wearing ChloƩ), and going out on a good, old fashioned date is something that will never get old to me. It's one of those cute little things in life that always gets me ridiculously excited and turns me into the giddy romantic that I am. Yes, I know - cheesy.

My idea of the perfect date night outfit is wearing something that makes me feel fabulous, pretty, and confident. For me, slipping into a cute pair of high heels that I don't get to wear out too often, swiping on red lipstick, and flaunting my favorite off-the-shoulder top and skater skirt combo are some of the best ways for me to achieve this look. The overall vibe is flirty, chic, and perfect for any romantic night out.  Dressing up has the power to completely change how you're feeling, and if you're wearing what makes you personally feel confident and fierce as well, then you're bound to have a lovely time ahead.
