Feeling Cozy

One of my absolute favorite pieces for fall is the sweater dress. They're cozy, comfortable, and make it so that even when the weather gets a bit chilly, rocking a dress can still always be an option. Now I live in L.A. and our "fall" is still very much a nice and sunny summer. So although the weather isn't cold enough for me to get fully decked out in all those warm Autumn layers, I opted to instead combine both seasonal looks together. This sweater dress featured is warm enough to serve as a great item for fall but short and breezy enough to be chic for summer when worn by itself.  For readers living in colder regions, I would recommend throwing in a pair of tights for this outfit. Another piece I love is boots, and the gold and brown hues featured here are an especially glamorous combination for fall. I intend on wearing these ones a lot this season!

I've always beens a huge fan of neutral tones in outfits, and one way I always like styling them up is by incorporating gold metallic jewelry.  Gold and cream is another combination I simply can't get enough of, and the featured aesthetic I aimed to go for with it was cozy comfort with a touch of glam. This specific look is always fabulous for fall, and thankfully it can even be done here in warm, sunny L.A!

East Cliff

As you've probably noticed by now, maxi dresses are one of my favorite articles of clothing. Their long, breezy, and flowing silhouette practically make them daytime evening gowns, and the “right ones” always manage to do wonders for both my overall look and my confidence in general. As I am a bit on the shorter side, I love maxi dresses with slits and cut-outs. The hints of leg and skin while wearing them not only add a subtly sexy touch to your overall getup, but also prevent a petite lady like me from being drowned down by all the fabric.

I’m a total sucker for floral print dresses and when I saw the beautiful print of this dress as well as the killer double slits and gorgeous backless design, I just knew it was the right dress for me. As it’s already got a lot going on, I went pretty easy on the accessories and only donned a pair of gold earrings with my signature rose gold Michael Kors watch. I love pairing gold with white in general, so adding it into this wardrobe alongside those pops of red on the dress seemed like a pretty good bet.

Add on a chic cream & gold Kate Spade handbag as well as a sleek pair of Calvin Klein nude sandals and you’ve got yourself a breezy and fabulous ensemble perfect for a day out in the sun.  Just another reason to love maxi dresses even more.

Downtown Girl

Although I originally come from a small beachside town in California, I can honestly say that I am more a city girl at heart. I have always had a strong love for going downtown, shopping around, sipping lattes at chic, street-side cafes, admiring all the pretty lights at nighttime, and simply being surrounded by the liveliness that the city has to offer.

Now when it comes to downtown fashion, my aesthetic has always revolved around looking polished. A strategy I often go for is balancing the combination of sleek basics with some fabulous, stand-out details. The tartan design of the American Apparel skirt adds some East-coast flare to my ensemble, while my trusty Michael Kors watch adds a glamorous touch of rose gold. DKNY is one of those brands that always seems to encapsulate city style fabulously, so rocking a soft black leather chain link bag from the company was a must. Lastly, my cropped Topshop sweater, in my opinion, holds resemblance to a classic Chanel blazer and ultimately serves as a classy finishing touch. Bring it all together and you've got a fashionable, metropolitan look sure to keep you looking fabulous regardless of your surroundings.

California Girl in Paris

If there's any place perfect for getting fabulous and wearing what makes you feel great, it's Paris. There is definitely something about dressing up and looking good that makes any experience that much more enjoyable, so what better place to embrace this creative outlet than in the fashion capitol of the world? I got this dress from Reformation a couple weeks prior to this shoot but didn't actually wear it out until the day of, as I specifically wanted to rock it for the first time while strolling around the streets of Paris.

The aesthetic I was going for with this particular look was a California-meets-Paris sort of vibe. The floral maxi dress and tousled waves added a bit of a Bohemian flare to the ensemble, while the sleek black heels, sunglasses, and chain link bag served as more sophisticated touches. With this combination, I was able to stay true to my West Coast roots as well as keep things très chic.

The print of this Reformation dress is absolutely gorgeous, and this piece in general is one of my favorite garments hanging in my closet right now. It's simple and breezy, as well as a statement piece that stands strong on its own. As mentioned earlier in my "English Rose" post, Reformation is a brand I'm head over heels for and this dress only enhanced that admiration even more.

Unfortunately, this shoot also took place on my last day in Paris. Despite it feeling a bit too short, my trip there was definitely incredible while it lasted. Some highlights include visiting famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, strolling along Champs-Élysées and eating a great deal of delicious macaroons from both miscellaneous bakeries and from the best of the best - Laduree! I couldn't have imagined a more fabulous way to experience that magical city for the first time. Until next time. :)

Jardin du Luxembourg

Visiting Paris has been a wish of mine ever since I was a little girl. And luckily for me this summer, my wish came true! During our month long trip to England and Eastern Europe, my boyfriend and I took a short side trip to the City of Lights that was simply lovely, to say the least. We visited a number of sights while on our trip and this particular one was at the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens ("Jardin du Luxembourg" in French). As probably apparent by my love for floral print, I'm obsessed with flowers and gardens and found this spot to not only be perfect for the sight of my next shoot, but a lovely place to visit in general. It's also perfect for a nice picnic lunch, which we happened to enjoy here as well. :)

White lace is beautiful on its own, so I opted for accessories that once again complimented the dress rather than distract from it. A classy palette of creamy neutrals and soft, shimmery metallics composed this ensemble, while the pop of colors from the garden added a nice contrast against it. A stylish yet simple pair of white wedges allowed me to walk through the garden with ease while my trusty and versatile Kate Spade bag polished off the outfit. The final result is breezy, simple, and very elegant - a rather fabulous combination in my opinion.

English Rose

In a place as lovely as England, it was only fitting that I dress accordingly. The maxi dress featured is probably one of my absolute favorite pieces. It’s from Reformed by the Reformation, a collaboration that LA-based, eco-friendly brand Reformation did with Urban Outfitters, and let me just say that I absolutely love them. Every time I wear a dress from this brand, I feel incredible - as if the dress was made just for me. The fabrics are hands down beautiful, the fit is right on point, and the flow of the maxi dresses is practically ethereal. And looks aside, they make all of their products in a sustainable and eco-conscious manner. Who knew being environmentally friendly could look so fabulous? Reformation certainly makes eco-chic effortless.

With the floral pattern of the dress being my main pop of design, I kept things minimal elsewhere. When I'm wearing a piece that has more of a vibrant print, I opt for accessories that are stylish on their own, but also simple enough to compliment the outfit rather than distract from the main garment. A simple, black DKNY chain link bag served as my purse, and my signature rose gold Michael Kors watch was a must. My heeled brown sandals from Lulu's pair with a great deal of dresses I own and not only are they pretty darn cute, but they're also very comfortable. In addition, heeled brown sandals are shoes that transition fabulously from summer to fall, making it so you can rock these heels almost all year long. It works out pretty well. :)

LBD's in London

When it comes to the iconic garment that is the little black dress, I personally think Karl Lagerfeld sums it up best: “One can never be over-dressed or underdressed in a little black dress.” This particular shoot took place in London and what better way to hit up the town than in this timeless piece? Whether styled up or worn in its simplicity,  you can never go wrong with an LBD.

A little trick that I do with a number of dresses I own is cinch them at the waist so that they are sleeker and more form-fitting. This ultimately makes the outfit look more polished, and I especially love doing this to LBD's.  A simple black belt does the trick for me here, however it’s quite easy to be more extravagant with belt choice and accessories in general if you feel like playing things up even more. One fantastic quality about a little black dress is that its base can serve as a "blank canvas", making it incredibly versatile and adjustable to your own personal style.

For this ensemble, I felt that the brown leather of my jacket added a cool, downtown feel to it while the matching Louis Vuitton bag added more of a classic touch. Just like the little black dress, the signature LV monogram is a print that will always be in style. With all of these touches and the shades, the look is more daytime appropriate. Take off the jacket and the sunglasses though and you’ve got yourself an ensemble perfect for a night out on the town. Regardless of the occasion, rocking a little black dress is a move sure to keep you looking classy and fabulous.
